Frequently Asked Questions
What is Brick Veneer
Brick Veneer (A.K.A. Brick Tile) essentially is the brick face that’s been cut from the whole, providing a tile-like product idea for creating a brick look at half the cost and effort of a standard brick wall.
How are they made?
All our veneers are created on site using our purpose built machine.
One by one, they’re fed into the machine. Inside, each face is carefully removed at a depth of 20mm. What comes out are two matching veneers and a centre core.
Are they the same as regular tiles?
Though they are very similar to standard tiles, they are not the same.
Being bricks, they do require a little more care as they are a little more fragile to handle. Compared to tiles, the application is varied slightly. The two main differences being the preparation of the veneers and using a mortar rather than a grout when filling the gaps.
Do they come on a sheet?
Unfortunately not. Because they are individually cut on site, they are left as singular pieces.
How long do they last?
With the proper care and maintenance, our veneer products can last upwards of 30 years.
Masonry is one of the most durable components of a home. Bricks, stone and concrete masonry all provide a strong and attractive base able to withstand the test of time.
Do you provide samples?
To help the customer make an informed decision, we are happy to provide samples.
Each veneer is clearly labelled on the back, securely wrapped and sent via Australia Post (tracking number provided upon request). All you need to do is pay for postage.
Is there an order minimum/maximum?
No. We cut our veneers to order, catering to the individual requirements of each customer.
Can they be delivered?
Yes! We provide shipping options throughout the country to make the ordering process as simple as possible.
Contact the office for delivery rates, prices and delivery times to your local area.
Can they be used in the Kitchen or Bathroom?
Yes. We recommend sealing the individual veneers prior to application and adding a waterproofing agent to the mortar. Not only will this improve their overall life by protecting them from the everyday wear and tear, but also make cleaning much easier when it’s required.
Flooring is the only area we recommend not using them for. The main reason being they wear much faster and do not keep to their original state for very long, resulting in a very dull and often unclean surface.
Do you supply corner pieces?
Unfortunately no. Because we use recycled old red bricks, they are just too fragile to cut that way.
How many veneers do I need?
Each veneer measures to approximately 225x70x20mm. Based on this and the 5-10mm allowance for mortar, 50 veneers will cover a single square metre. Contact the office, providing the details of your project and we will be happy to provide you with an accurate quote.
